On February 17, 2016, the University of Chicago announced a new five-year, $100 million plan to enrich the Odyssey Scholarship program, spurred by a $50 million gift and challenge from writer Harriet Heyman, AM’72, and her husband, investor Sir Michael Moritz.
A panel moderated by Sara Ray Stoelinga, the Sara Liston Spurlark Director of UChicago’s Urban Education Institute, featured Arne Duncan, former US Secretary of Education; Elizabeth Kirby, Chief of Networks for Chicago Public Schools; and Vincent Tinto, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Syracuse University.
