WREC 2013: Career Pathways Evaluation Design

This session focuses on innovative approaches to and the challenges of evaluating career pathways programs, which combine skills training, supports and employment connections to help low-income, low-skilled adults improve their educational and employment outcomes. Brendan Kelly (Administration for Children and Families) moderates the session. Alan Werner (Abt Associates) describes how administrative data, surveys and other methods are being used in the National Implementation Evaluation of the Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG). Laura Peck (Abt Associates) discusses the HPOG Impact Study’s innovative experimental design, which uses natural and random variation of program features to assess impacts. Howard Rolston (Abt Associates) provides an overview of the Innovative Strategies for Increasing Self-Sufficiency evaluation design, including programs in the evaluation and design challenges.
